Illustration for the book cover of "The Last Saturday in America" by Ray McManus. I chose to draw my daughters, their mother, aunt, and grandmother in our neighborhood as a response to the beautiful poetry McManus crafts in his book about suburban neighbors, bullies, gun violence, and the south. I found kinship in his words -- described as "willing to burn it all down and start something new, only to see that the new start he is looking for has been with him the whole time"
